On Thursday, October 25th, more than 100 people gathered at Sens restaurant in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The “happy hour” event was designed to educate young professionals about domestic violence and introduce them to the Riley Center’s work. Optional donations were welcomed, and guests contributed more than $3,000 in the span of three hours - all of which will go directly to support services to battered women and their children.
Mari Alaniz, Director of the Riley Center was enthusiastic about the evening: “Every October, for Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Riley Center hosts an event to spread awareness about domestic violence. This event was the best that I have seen in the eleven years I have worked with the Riley Center.”
Our heartfelt thanks to our Event Chair Jennifer Law, and key helper Jennifer Sampson, for volunteering their time to organize this event and bringing so many of their friends and coworkers. The St. Vincent de Paul Society is also deeply grateful to the newly opened Sens Restaurant & Bar for their generosity in hosting the event (in such a beautiful venue!), their fabulous food and truly outstanding service.
